چکیده

Abstract— In general, most of communication satellites were designed to be operated in geostationary orbit. And many of them were designed in prolate dual-spin configuration. As a prolate dual-spin vehicle, they have to be stabilized against their internal energy dissipation effect. Several countries that located in southern hemisphere, has shown interest to use communication satellite. Because of those countries’ southern latitude, an idea emerged to incline the communication satellite (due to its prolate dualspin configuration) in elliptical orbit. This work is focused on designing Attitude Stability System for prolate dual-spin satellite in the effect of perturbed field of gravity due to the inclination of its elliptical orbit. DANDE (De-spin Active Nutation Damping Electronics) provides primary stabilization method for the satellite in its orbit. Classical Control Approach is used for the iteration of DANDE parameters. The control performance is evaluated based on time response analysis.

Modeling And Simulation Of Prolate Dual-Spin Satellite Dynamics In An Inclined Elliptical Orbit: Case Study Of Palapa B2R Satellite

Abstract— In response to the interest to re-use Palapa B2R satellite nearing its End of Life (EOL) time, an idea to incline the satellite orbit in order to cover a new region has emerged in the recent years. As a prolate dual-spin vehicle, Palapa B2R has to be stabilized against its internal energy dissipation effect. This work is focused on analyzing the dynamics of the reusable satellite in i...

Effects of Some Parameters on Thermal Control of a LEO Satellite

Satellite thermal control ensures safe operating temperature ranges for satellite components throughout the mission life. Effects of altitude, spin, and position of satellite radiator(s) on the thermal control of a small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite have been studied. Results show that change in satellite altitude, in the range considered here, does not produce critical thermal conditions. H...

Determination of the best-fitting reference orbit for a LEO satellite using the Lagrange coefficients

Linearization of the nonlinear equations and iterative solution is the most well-known scheme in many engineering problems. For geodetic applications of the LEO satellites, e.g. the Earth’s gravity field recovery, one needs to provide an initial guess of the satellite location or the so-called reference orbit. Numerical integration can be utilized for generating the reference orbit if a satelli...

Magnetotorquer-only Attitude Control System Robust to Wide Range of Initial Conditions for Low-cost Spin- Stabilized Itasat Satellite

Abstract. Air-core magnetotorquer-only attitude control system (ACS) for the low-cost, spin-stabilized ITASAT satellite is here described. ITASAT’s ACS has been tested by simulation with synthetic measurement data. The proposed closedloop ACS system is based on 3-axis attitude and angular rate estimates provided by an extended Kalman filter processing vector measurements from a Sun sensor and a...

BeiDou Inter-Satellite-Type Bias Evaluation and Calibration for Mixed Receiver Attitude Determination

The Chinese BeiDou system (BDS), having different types of satellites, is an important addition to the ever growing system of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). It consists of Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites, Inclined Geosynchronous Satellite Orbit (IGSO) satellites and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites. This paper investigates the receiver-dependent bias between these sat...
